Arabian Ranches Rings in the Chinese New Year

New Year celebrations rang through the community for the second time in 2019, as Arabian Ranches marked the Chinese New Year with pomp and splendour.

01 February 2019

The traditional Chinese dragon dancers made a grand entrance, with their fire breathing beast meandering through the venue in hot pursuit of the ‘flaming pearl’. Lion dancers also had the community’s kids hopping in excitement, as the frisky creature leapt right off the stage and even allowed the delighted juniors to do some petting. A larger than life Chinese doll mascot also stopped by to greet families and take pictures.

The Chinese wishing tree proved to be a major attraction, as residents tucked away their wishes in flaming red envelopes and hung them off the highest branches they could reach, with the notion being the higher up the letter is placed, the greater the chances of the wish coming true.

At the end of the day, it was yet another journey for the community’s cultural melting pot as residents continue to spread their roots and diversify, building stronger communal bonds.
