Play areas revamped

Dozens of play areas throughout Emirates Living now sport vibrant, colourful floors that are sure to excite youngsters.

12 December 2020

The community’s play areas are among the most popular amenities in Emirates Living, with the constant running, skipping and hopping eventually taking a toll on the flooring. The faded floors were removed and replaced with vibrant new colours, with a foam-based material that also offers protective benefits.

  • 1. The flooring comprises three layers that combine to offer improved cushioning.
  • 2. The textured surface also improves grip using a top coat that emulates resin-based floors.
  • 3. Additional LED lights have also been installed at some of the amenities to improve night-time visibility.

Solar-powered sikka lights

4 December 2020

If you head out for an evening stroll you’ll notice that things have gotten a lot more illuminating around Reem!

  • There are 750 new sikka lights installed in over 15 sikkas criss-crossing your community.
  • The lights are all 6W but don’t be fooled! They’re housed in reflective casings that make them appear even brighter.
  • We opted for cooler colours between 4,000 to 5,000 Kelvin – they’re known to make you feel more energetic and active (which is why offices love them!).
  • We saved the best for last – they’re completely solar powered! The in-built battery holds enough charge for up to eight hours.

New recycling station

The community’s first recycling station is now open.

02 December 2020

If you’re enthusiastic about recycling and have more to give than you can fit in your villa’s recycling bin, you’ll love this – your community’s very first recycling station has been installed!

  • You can dump paper, cardboard boxes and plastic containers in the bins.
  • Ensure that you don’t discard paper that has been soiled or stained.
  • Things you can’t throw into the bin include metal, glass, ceramics and electronics.

Ready to keep recycling? The new facility is located opposite the Linear Park next to the Reem community.

New palms are here

18 November 2020

50 new trees have been along the main road near the central park, near the lakes, and numerous other locations. The fronds (leaves) of new trees are usually tied up for several weeks for a number of reasons.

  • Young trees are still vulnerable, with tender fronds (leaves) growing out of the centre of the crown. Tying up the surrounding fronds helps protect them.
  • The root system is still developing and with the fronds wrapped, the tree can dedicate more energy into reestablishing the roots after planting.
  • Tying up the fronds also helps slow down water loss during those crucial first few weeks.

Pest control extended

Pest control activities in your community will be extended until April 2021.

17 November 2020

Pest control activities in your community will be extended until April 2021, since it happens to be their preferred breeding season.

Drain systems, bushes, lawns, water bodies and all other potential breeding hotspots will be sprayed with Dubai Municipality-approved insecticide two to three times every week.

Pest control is a joint responsibility, here are some tips to stop them breeding inside your boundary walls.

  • With the rainy season looming, make sure that you don’t leave empty containers or bowls outside.
  • Discard of gardening and landscaping waste promptly from your yard.
  • Consider installing mosquito traps around your home.

Tree pruning underway

Trees throughout the community are being to pruned to ensure their health and longevity.

02 November 2020

If you’ve noticed a number of trees being trimmed throughout your community, don’t be alarmed – we’re not harming the trees. On the contrary we’re actually helping them!

  • 1. Pruning trees from time to time helps the roots better stabilise the
trunk. With windy, rainy weather expected, pruned trees will be better equipped to resist the elements.
  • 2. Any dead or dying branches are also removed, halting the spread of decay and allowing for fresh growth.
  • 3. With shorter branches, the pruned trees also allow more vital sunlight to reach plants below them. This is especially crucial during winter months, when days are shorter.

Winter is the best time to prune, as trees are more dormant and have more energy reserves to grow quickly.
